The head to head between the two cameras is the number with a cover date March 12, 2011. Both the Canon EOS 60D and Canon EOS 7D that are positioned in the high-end consumer market and can be considered two excellent choices for those who want to make a quantum leap after he “made his bones” with a low-end SLR. The street price of the two cameras is not too far away. Which one will be recommended to the camera? We’ll find out soon.
Canon EOS 7D
The Canon EOS 7D is the “bridge” between the ideal DSLR-end consumer and professional ones. In practice, is a watershed, at least according to Canon subdivision, just between the 60D and the EOS 5D Mark II.
Equipped with a 18-megapixel CMOS sensor, the 60D manages to 8 fps burst photos, a range of up to ISO 12800 and 19 AF points. The flurry of shots if you use the JPEG Large can reach up to 126 consecutive shots (depending on the speed of the memory card). The viewfinder has a coverage of 100% of frame and provides a wealth of information, including the digital level. The 60D has AF sensor used in the Zone and Spot AF point cross and the central point is sensitive to f / 2.8, which at f / 5.6. In terms of image processor that uses the Canon Digic 4, which processes the data to 14 bits, handles very well the noise is compatible with Face Detection and allows you to record video in full HD.
The EOS 7D can be controlled without Speedlite ST-E2 or 580EX II flash and covers an angle of view of optics up to 15 mm.
The 3″ LCD Clear View II has a resolution of 920,000 points with Live View and the camera body is magnesium alloy with weather resistance due to sealing by seals, equivalent to that of the EOS-1N.

Canon EOS 60D
The following close behind the Canon EOS 60D. They too have a 18-megapixel sensor with some more creative features that can be applied to the image you just took. With Basic and, in fact, we treat the picture by adding, for example, the effect Toy Camera, or Soft Focus and so on. Big difference compared to the 7D is the rear display, which in this case has a size of 3.7 “and is adjustable so that we can make shots from angles difficult to reach if we had fixed the display. Again the camera is capable of making movies in Full HD quality, aided by the adjustable display, which acts as a viewfinder.
No surprise as to the image processor, DIGIC 4 with the excellent also used for the 60D. As for the management of the 7D ISO has an extended range up to 12800, so we can take pictures even in environments that are not properly lit without flash. Also supported in this case the burst, which should not be beyond the 5.8 fps with gusts of up to 58 consecutive JPEG. Less extended the autofocus system, which for the 60D has 9 focus points cross.
Features of the Canon EOS 60D
- CMOS sensor with 18 megapixel APS-C
- Basic and advanced creative features with
- Swivel LCD 7.7 cm (3″), 3:2 ratio
- Full HD movies
- DIGIC 4
- ISO 100-6400, H: 12800

- AF System 9-point cross
- IFCL meter with double-layer sensor to 63 zones
And the winner is …
Amateur Photographer of the two cameras compared the characteristics, which are almost identical except for some small, but important, detail. Took into account the quality of construction and handling, or ergonomics, or, to put it to good, “as you take in hand” with the EOS 60D which has the aluminum chassis and polycarbonate, while the alloy 70D magnesium, which makes 100 grams heavier (but is also larger and has a good grip).
Great attention sull’autofocus is distinctly different between the two cameras, with that of the 7D, which is obviously much more professional and precise in manual selections than the 60D. No shortage of reliable assessment about the white balance, noise, resolution, ISO sensitivity, metering and dynamic range.
At the end of the six pages of text, accompanied by photos of example, the Canon EOS 7D comes out the winner of welding together than the 60D. The substantial differences between the two is the autofocus, the set of features (construction and functions) and the viewfinder. Basically, the Canon EOS 60D SLR is a great consumer, while the EOS 7D seems to use the same words of the magazine, a version of the APS-C DSLR professional. No doubt, therefore, that the difference in price between the two is absolutely justified.
