Canon’s flagship EOS-1D Mark III is the most advanced EOS Digital SLR ever produced. It has a new 10.1 megapixel CMOS sensor (APS-H size) with Canon’s EOS Integrated Cleaning System and a 3.0-inch LCD monitor with Canon’s Live View technology. The 1D Mark III has a redesigned 100% viewfinder, a new 45-point AF system, and can shoot up to 10 fps continuously with a maximum burst of 110 shots. Dual “DIGIC III” Image Processors work in tandem to speed up every process while refining image quality; a new, lighter body has improved weather sealing and shutter durability. Canon EOS-1D Mark III BODY
Following the indications of many users and professional photographers, Canon has enhanced the camera body of the new EOS 1D Mark III. The beautiful design features smooth lines has obviously been kept.
However, the structure was made even more solid, rigid and durable. Abundant use of magnesium that now, in addition to the camera body, it has been used for the chassis interior and the chamber of the mirror. LCD

SENSOR
The new EOS 1D Mark III is equipped with a CMOS sensor, 10.1 effective megapixels in APS-H. The sensitive area measuring 28.1 mm x 18.7 mm: the zoom factor is 1.3 x.
The re-design allows to obtain high quality images especially from the standpoint of noise according to a statement from Canon should reach values of up to 50% lower than the previous 1D Mark II. The range of available sensitivity reaches a record high of ISO100-3200 as standard settings, expandable via the menu at ISO 50 in L mode and H mode ISO6400
The results he is capable of the new EOS 1D Mark III are even more striking when one considers the data in the table above for the relationship between size of individual pixels and ISO sensitivity: one of the factors most crucial to qunto concerning the presence of noise in images produced by a digital camera. However, the new design of CMOS sensor supplied with the new EOS 1D Mark III (see illustration above) provides a structure redrawn for each pixel. The extraordinary sensitivity and low noise values associated circuits are finally obtained using second-generation noise reduction directly on the sensor.

AUTOMATIC CLEANING SYSTEM
As expected, the automatic cleaning system by bringing forth the vibration of the filters to protect the sensor, so far found only on entry-level EOS 400D, it begins to spread and now opens on top of the line Canon.
The system, shown in the picture at right, is capable of removing soil deposits on the outer filter placed in front of the CMOS sensor using vibrations induced by a piezoelectric system.
Any residues not physically removable can be erased “digitally” via software features built-in camera that is in the suite of programs supplied.
AUTOFOCUS
One of the many reasons for success and pride of all previous EOS 1-Series has always been the 45-point advanced autofocus system, reference in the field to date. With the new EOS 1D Mark III Canon wanted to go beyond itself by redesigning the entire system from scratch. The use of new technologies, new materials and construction techniques were then allowed to come to a surprising result with an improved autofocus system, more accurate and flexible in using every day.

ADJUSTMENT ADVANCED AUTO FOCUS
A feature that surely will be appreciated by many practitioners is the possibility to calibrate the autofocus problems in software to meet the front or back-focus that all too often characterized the use of optics designed for the reused later on digital body .
The correction can be applied always or with specific parameters for each lens (maximum 20).
We will see in our normal field test the true effectiveness of the function.
EXPOSURE
The new EOS 1D Mark III has a new 63-zone metering system linked to the 19 points of focus to cross. The algorithm for assessing exposure is very similar to the version adopted for the previous EOS 1D Mark II but with greater attention to those present in the frame in relation to the background and other elements of the scene. There are 4 modes: evaluative, partial (13.5% of the visible), spot (3.8% of the visible) and Center-weighted average. It ‘also available Multi Spot linked to the measurement points of focus.
LIVE VIEW
One of the main differences between SLR and compact cameras is without doubt the inability of the first to use the LCD monitor to compose the shot. The reflex mirror is in fact located in front of the sensor, which therefore can not be directly affected by light except at the time of capture.
However, the utility can use the LCD in all those occasions when it is impossible or simply inconvenient to observe the scene from the optical viewfinder is undeniable.

CONCLUSIONS
Canon, with the new EOS-1D Mark III centers, in our opinion, a very important goal.
The new EOS 1 seems to the realization of the many requests made over the years by experts, market players, especially from photographers who put a strain on its equipment on the field have always been the most trusted advisers for the discovery of problems and more importantly, to propose practical solutions and effective. A first (fast) analysis of specific and based on material that we have the work done to improve the previous Mark II has been so thorough and scrupulously to induce Canon starting from scratch and completely redesign the new 1D Mark III.
