15.1-megapixel CMOS sensor
Ideal for those who want to create photographic prints in poster size or crop images to perfection, without losing any detail required for printing. The 15.1-megapixel Canon CMOS sensor is great when shooting in low light conditions and produces incredibly low image noise.
Canon’s CMOS technology is one of the most important achievements of the company, thanks to the noise reduction circuit for each pixel that provides images without noise. Compared to CCD technology, the low consumption of Canon’s CMOS sensors allow for longer battery life.
Canon’s CMOS sensors in the signal conversion is handled by individual amplifiers present in the pixel. ‘m Avoiding unnecessary charge transfer, with a significant increase in the speed of signal transmission to the processor. Full HD video recording

When the light is low, the EOS REbel T1i / 500D offers an ISO sensitivity of base equal to 3,200, expandable to 12,800 for environments where flash use is not recommended.

EOS REbel T1i / 500D features a continuous shooting speed of 3.4 fps for bursts up to 170 images in JPEG format (9 in RAW).
LCD 3″ Clear View with Live View Mode
Canon Clear View LCD screens have a diagonal of 3 inches and a VGA resolution (640×480 pixels) with 920,000 dot. This enables high quality image review and control of the focusing in ultra-accurate reproduction. Thanks viewing angle of 170 ?, the screen can be observed in a wide range of environments and situations, with minimal reflections with the exclusive double-layer anti-reflection coating Canon. This combination of features allows photographers to enjoy photographing the most extreme angles.
9-point AF system
A high precision AF system uses 9 AF points located inside the frame to better accommodate off-center subjects. For accurate focusing, the center AF cross sensor has a high sensitivity, suitable for lenses with aperture f/2.8 or faster.
DIGIC 4
The image data captured by the CMOS sensor is processed by Canon’s DIGIC image processor before being recorded on the memory card. DIGIC technology uses advanced image processing algorithms to ensure precise, natural colors, accurate white balance and an effective noise reduction. The processing speed ensures a swift reaction of the camera and when to launch almost instantaneous.
DIGIC chips work with the memory of transit high speed reading, processing, compressing and writing of data takes place quickly enough to keep the memory of freedom of transit during long bursts of shots. And because DIGIC integrates all key functions, power consumption is minimized.
Canon DIGIC 4 processor coupled with the CMOS sensor, allows 14-bit image processing for smooth gradations and natural colors. Furthermore, advanced DIGIC 4 allows reduction of noise when shooting at high ISO sensitivity, and vision to initiate almost instantaneous images right after shooting.
EOS Integrated Cleaning System
The EOS Integrated Cleaning System prevents the formation of dust on the sensor in three ways: it reduces, repels and removes it.
- Reduce – Internal camera mechanisms are designed so as to reduce dust generation. The use of the new cover of the camera body prevents such training.
- Repel – Anti-static technologies are applied to low-pass filter positioned in front of the sensor that attracts more dust.
- Remove – Self-Cleaning Sensor Unit uses high frequency vibrations to remove dust from the low pass filter band for about one second after each start up. To be able to take pictures immediately after the opening, this feature can be turned off immediately whenever you press the shutter button.
Canon has also designed the Dust Delete Data that can detect and map the presence of dust and or streaks on the sensor. These can be deleted automatically after the shoot, thanks to a feature in this latest version of Digital Photo Professional software.
Fully compatible with EF / EF-S lenses and Speedlite EX
EOS REbel T1i / 500D is compatible with the entire range of EF / EF-S lenses and EX Speedlites Canon. This allows the creation of a photographic system as unique as the photographer who uses it.
Picture Style
Picture Style settings simplify the control in-camera image quality. They can be likened to different film types, each of which provides a different effect. For each pre-selected setting, the photographer controls sharpness, contrast, color tone and saturation. The default configuration of the camera allows you to use JPEG images at once, without resorting to other menu settings. The Picture Style presets applied to RAW images can be revised with Canon Digital Photo Professional software.
The six presets include:
- Standard – for crisp and vibrant images
- Portrait – optimizes color tone and saturation, to obtain nice skin tones
- Landscape – in shades of green and blue on, to confer with mountains, trees and sections of buildings contours determined
- Neutral – ideal for post-processing
- Faithful – adjusts color to match those of the subject, for shots with a color temperature of 5200K
- Monochrome – for black and white shooting with a wide range of filter effects (yellow, orange, red and green) and toning effects (sepia, blue, purple and green). You can store a maximum of three settings Picture Style can also be downloaded from Canon site and of course create an almost infinite number with the software supplied Picture Style Editor.

Digital Photo Professional Software
Digital Photo Professional allows fast processing and high image quality RAW. Processing with Digital Photo Professional allows real-time visualization and application immediate changes to files, in addition to control variables such as white balance, dynamic range, exposure compensation, color and tone curves . The latest features added to the program include the vignetting correction, which reduces the reduction of brightness of images obtained with peripheral targets. The geometric and chromatic aberration correction allows then to improve different kinds of phenomena caused by certain optical properties. Users can also control the shadows and highlights of an image, reducing the problems arising from areas that are “burned” with loss of detail. Digital Photo Professional also handles noise reduction in post production in the parameter luminance and chrominance in different ways.
Digital Photo Professional supports sRGB color space, Adobe RGB, Color Match RGB, Apple RGB and Wide Gamut RGB.
TIFF or JPEG images converted from RAW format can be applied Profiles ICC (International Color Consortium). This ensures accurate color reproduction in software that support ICC profiles, such as Adobe Photoshop. For greater efficiency, you can also save and apply multiple changes to multiple images at once.

EOS Utility
The new version of EOS Utility provides essential support for the control of the remote shooting, camera configuration and support for Live View remote. Tightly integrated with Digital Photo Professional, EOS Utility can be configured to monitor specific folders, renaming and moving incoming images to a structured file system. Users can also tag their images with EXIF data, including information on copyright.
Picture Style Editor
Picture Style Editor enables users to create their own Picture Styles that meets their individual needs. Each Picture Style contains detailed information on how the image should be reproduced by following four basic parameters (saturation, contrast, sharpness and tone color) for countless “digital film”. Once you create a Picture Style, it can be loaded directly into the camera and applied to JPEG or RAW, noting the information in the tag file. By doing so you can implement beyond measure the creative aspect of their shots and drastically reduce the hours of work in post production.

Here is the “baby 5D” This was the first thought, the instinctive reaction that we had when the new Canon EOS REbel T1i / 500D has arrived in the newsroom.
It is because beyond the obvious similarities in the names and acronyms (which is now commonplace in the Canon product line) the “small” REbel T1i / 500D aligns perfectly with the new trend launched by EOS 5D Mark II extending in fact to the general public of connoisseurs functions and characteristics will become the center of future reflex.
Clearly stands out among all the video function. Canon EOS REbel T1i / 500D is the first camera to introduce the mid-range ability to record videos in Full HD. We have put a strain on the real capabilities of the new “small” house of Canon. We’ll talk at length in the section devoted to video and you can evaluate it in person view our latest “demo” was shot entirely with the new Canon EOS REbel T1i / 500D.
Obviously the new REbel T1i / 500D is first and foremost a reflex. And certainly not a reflex what so ever.
