The 2012 has started really great. Before the announcement of the flagship full-frame Nikon D4. Then the rumors should be confirmed shortly on mirrorless APS-C to Fuji X-Pro1 interchangeable lenses. Finally here is the heir of the Canon G12, with a muscular bridge sensor APS-C and almost 28-112mm zoom f/2.8-5.8 brightness. The name is Canon G1 X.
The most interesting feature of Canon PowerShot G1 X is just the sensor size 18.7 x 14mm, which is slightly smaller than an APS-C, but larger than a micro four-thirds sensor, dual sensor used on the CX System 1 mirrorless Nikon and even six times larger than the sensor used on the previous model. Look at the table in the gallery, after the jump, to better understand the differences in size.
Thanks to this sensor is expected then a quality almost equal to the SLR, making the Canon G1 portable X the perfect alternative without any compromise.
Canon G1 X other key characteristics:
- 14MP sensor 1.5″ CMOS
- Galilean optical viewfinder
- Zoom 28-112mm IS with stabilizer

- LCD monitor 3.0 “920.000 pixels, fully articulated
